Ajax have already sold talented midfielder Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona for £65million and he is keen to link back up with De Ligt in Spain come next season, a feeling shared by the defender.
As reported by Marca, De Ligt said: ‘Barcelona have great defenders and it is logical and normal that there is competition, but it is not something that frightens me.
‘Of course it would be nice to play with De Jong and [Lionel] Messi at Barcelona, but I must look at what is best for me.’
Ajax enjoyed a stunning season that has seen a large chunk of their squad attract interest across Europe this summer.

De Ligt played a starring role as the club won the Eredivisie title and also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
He has made over 100 appearances for Ajax, where his current contract runs until the summer of 2021.
United are keen to add to their defensive options and hold an interest in Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.
But De Ligt has played in the Champions League and has also impressed for his country with many tipping him to be among the finest players in his position for the next decade.
