Manchester United are reportedly targeting Matias Vecino in order to ease their lack of depth in midfield.

With a £60million move for Sporting Lisbon captain Bruno Fernandes still on hold, United are looking at other options across Europe.

And given the long-term absence of central midfielders Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba, the Red Devils are sounding out Inter and the Uruguayan over a potential move, according to Sky Sport Italia

The report details that Vecino could be allowed to leave the San Siro should Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen complete his switch to Milan.

A deal between United and Inter could be agreed given the two clubs have already conducted business in this transfer window, following Ashley Young’s switch last week.

Even as it stands, Vecino is not a first-choice regular at Inter under manager Antonio Conte.

The 28-year-old, who has been at Inter since moving from Fiorentina in 2017, has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice.

However, he not make the matchday squad for the 1-1 draw against Lecce on Sunday in Serie A.

After also drawing to Atalanta last week, Conte’s team are now four points behind leaders Juventus in the table.
